Controversial Poetry Session Canceled

[The following email was sent to J Street, an American left-wing Israel advocacy group]

To whom it may concern:

I’d like to thank J Street, specifically J Street’s executive director Jeremy Ben-Ami, for canceling a poetry session featuring poets who have compared the adverse conditions faced by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to Jewish suffering in the Holocaust.  Mr. Ben-Ami was right when he said, “As J Street is critical of the use and abuse of Holocaust imagery and metaphors by politicians and pundits on the right, it would be inappropriate for us to feature poets at our conference whose poetry has used such imagery in the past and might also be offensive to some conference participant.”

Sincerely,

G.H.
