Christian Science Monitor Gets It Wrong

[Sent to the Christian Science Monitor (not to be confused with Christian Science) and to CAMERA.]

There is an error in your Nov. 15, 2009 article “Israel rejects Palestinian statehood bid via the UN.” The article states, “Israel itself was created by a vote in the United Nations.” In fact, the November 1947 vote in the United Nations supported partition of the British Mandate for Palestine into two states: one Palestinian Arab state and one Jewish state.  The State of Israel was created against the backdrop of the Arabs’ rejection of the UN vote and declaration of war against the Jews of the region.
